Killin, Loch Tay and everything you need nearby
Killin is a conservation village at the head of Loch Tay, inside the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Auchmore is under a mile away, so the village is your local shop, café and post office for the week.
The village sits where the River Dochart drops over the Falls of Dochart and runs into the loch. It is small, and that is its charm — a handful of shops, a few places to eat, a nine-hole golf course, and hills in every direction.
Administratively Killin is in the Stirling Council area, although it is historically and geographically part of Perthshire — a distinction that matters mainly when you are looking up council services.
Shops and provisions
Killin has a Co-op food store on Lyon Road, along with a small collection of independent shops on and around Main Street: a butcher, a pharmacy, gift and craft shops, and an outdoor centre selling maps, clothing and equipment.
For a big supermarket shop, Callander, Aberfeldy and Crieff are all within reasonable driving distance. Many guests bring the first day's food with them and top up in the village.
Eating and drinking
The village has cafés, tearooms, hotel bars and pubs serving food, most of them within a few minutes' walk of the Falls of Dochart. In high season it is worth booking a table for dinner, especially at weekends.
Opening times vary noticeably by season, so it is always worth a phone call out of the summer months.

Killin Library is run by Stirling Council and offers books, films to borrow, computers and free Wi-Fi. Published hours are Monday 10–1 and 2–5, Tuesday 10–1 and 3–7, Wednesday 2–5, Friday 10–1 and 3–7; closed Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Churches and community
There are churches in the village holding regular Sunday services, and the McLaren Hall on Main Street — built in 1935 through a bequest from Archibald McLaren — hosts community events, markets and classes through the year.
